Brave 2012

Hello everyone

I have just watched Brave ( hence the review) and I must say it wasn't too bad. Been a fan of Disney and it simplicity this doesn't fail to deliver. It is the story of a young princess that is forced by tradition to be betrothed. She however goes out of her way to stop this and causes chaos to her kingdom. She runs away and follows willow of the wisp ( yes I know a little sad but it is Disney) to a witch that grants her one spell causing danger to her and her mother.
Obviously this is directed at young children but it does have some hidden adult humour for the adults to enjoy ( I did find it amusing in places). Of course because it is for children there isn't much in the way of story as such. It is a very simple fairytale that children will love although there are some bits right at the end that some children may find a little scary. But other than that it is a really nice children's film.
The animation is very simple but very pretty at the same time so it is a nice film to watch visually. There are a few bits where the animation isn't up to standard but that is mostly the case anyway and I don't know many people that it actually really bothers if notices at all anyway. The Music in it was lovely and very fitting to the Celtic tones of the movie it really helped bring the story to life.
Just to make it more awesome for adults Billy Connolly does the voice of the father and of course he is the main source of humour ( which is always nice) but he was not the only big name in this Julie Walter did the voice of the witch and Kelly McDonald ( for those of you that don't know she was in Trainspotting and No country of old men not to mention Harry Potter and the deathly hallows) does the voice of the lead role Merida. And Emma Thompson was the voice of the mother so all in all a very good cast of actor/actress' to take on the main roles.
So the film is a good choice for you to be taking your kids to see this summer. Providing that they aren't scared of bears. And one I'm sure that most parents wont mind seeing as well. I give this film an 8/10 thank you for reading and watch this space.
